News of the ARCS Phoenix Chapter for Fall 2022

Our fall was a busy time for ARCS. We had a successful scholar social that was enjoyed by both the scholars and the members. Thanks go to Sydney Fox for coordinating at PVCC. We had a fun field trip to Creighton University Health Sciences courtesy of Andrea and Amy Moseley. We had a delightful and informative presentation at our October luncheon by Austin Blackmon from ASU. Last we had visits to NAU in person and UA virtually.

As to scholar news, ARCS Scholar Tyler Sypherd was the featured graduate speaker for ASU’s School for Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Click hereto see his address. Another ASU scholar, Eddie Andert of the School of Computer Engineering, presented data on autonomous vehicles at the ARCS Forward webinar. Our NAU scholar, Alejandro Grajal-Puche received the Graduate Student Research Award from the Society of Conservation Biology.

Coming up next is the National Meeting in Tempe, January 18-20 with a strategic planning session scheduled for January 20th.
All members of the Phoenix Chapter are invited to attend the Thursday night dinner hosted by our very own Dawn Senger
at the Carson Ballroom at Old Main on the ASU Tempe campus. It is a great way to meet members from other chapters.

Cocktails at 6:00pm followed by dinner at 7:00pm.

Please RSVP directly to Dawn dawn.erston@gmail.com by Jan 12th and she will confirm directions and parking.

The National Meeting is followed by our Membership Tea at Sandra Matteucci’s home on February 6that 1:00pm
and a general meeting at the home of Sydney Fox on March 6th with social hour starting at 12:30pm.

Last, look for your dues notice. Dues are payable February 1 and delinquent March 1. Please pay as soon as you get your notice.

I hope to see many of you in Tempe.
