What our ARCS Phoenix Scholars Are Saying...

"The scholar award allowed me to pursue my research on a full time basis rather than serving as a teaching assistant during the term. This provided a significant impetus to my research."

Jessica Corman - ASU ARCS Scholar

Jessica received her B.S. in Biological Sciences and a B.S. in Science of Earth Systems at Cornell University. Her research examines the complex interactions between calcium carbonate deposition and microbial growth in aquatic systems. This will shed light onto some of earth's living organismal communities and suggest ways to attenuate nutrient pollution in freshwaters.

Jeffrey Kane - NAU ARCS Scholar

Jeffrey received his B.S. in Environmental Science from Plattsburgh State University and His M.S in Forestry from Humboldt State University.  His research focuses on the patterns and processes of tree mortality in high elevation mixed-conifer forests of northern Arizona. Through the use of dendrochronological methods and stable isotope analysis he will develop models of tree mortality that will improve our understanding of the biotic and abiotic factors that influence growth and mortality in the mixed-conifer forest ecosystem.
