Dr. José Luis Cruz Rivera - President, Northern Arizona University
President Cruz Rivera joined Northern Arizona University (NAU) in June 2021. In his first year, he led the development of the Elevating Excellence strategic roadmap in collaboration with university stakeholders. This bold vision for a “new NAU” has inspired transformative efforts to deliver postsecondary value, including broadening access to record numbers of Arizona students, implementing innovative admissions and financial aid practices, and launching statewide partnerships to boost attainment. Dr. Cruz Rivera also serves as a Professor of Electrical Engineering at NAU and currently teaches a freshman course on digital logic circuits. 

 

 

Dr. Sarish Garimella- President, University of Arizona 
Suresh Garimella serves as the 23rd president of the University of Arizona and University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, positions he assumed on October 1, 2024. He was unanimously appointed by the Arizona Board of Regents following a robust national search. On selecting Garimella to lead the university, Board Chair Cecilia Mata praised his collaborative leadership, experience, and vision, calling him a “tireless champion for students” who is well suited to lead the university into a bright future.


 

University Support Through ARCS Scholar Awards

A Phoenix ARCS Scholar Award is a prestigious, unrestricted award of $8,500 per year that provides an essential tool for retaining top students at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona. All scholars must apply through their universities on an annual basis. Since 1977, a total of $8,993,900 has been distributed by ARCS Foundation Phoenix to 1,337 scholars from the three state universities.
