On the evening of March 2 (4 - 9 pm), ASU is hosting "Night of the Open Door," where scientists, engineers, and others will be facilitating interactive activities across the entire campus.  This event is free, open to the public, and is very family/kid friendly.  As an example of one of the activities, Phoenix ARCS scholar, Caitlin Otto, and her advisor, Shelley Haydel, will have a table in the Biodesign lobby.  As microbiologists, they will show the public that there are bacteria everywhere, most of which are not harmful! To demonstrate this concept, they will have petri dishes of bacteria swabbed from various locations (and body parts!).  They will have a matching game where the public will get to pair the petri dish with the location that it came from.
