ASU Scholar Tyler Sypherd

Posted on Monday, June 6, 2022

Congratulations to Tyler Sypherd! "Yesterday, I received notification that our paper, "Being Properly Improper" https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.09920 which is coauthored with ASU Professor Lalitha Sankar (my PhD advisor) and Google researcher Richard Nock, was accepted for presentation at the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) https://icml.cc/. Our paper is about making machine learning models more robust under data corruptions by using special loss functions to shape the learning process. ICML is the leading international academic conference in machine learning https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Conference_on_Machine_Learning with an acceptance rate of ~20% of submitted papers. This year, the conference is held from Sunday July 17th through Saturday the 23rd, 2022 at the Baltimore Convention Center. I will be presenting the paper in person in Baltimore." "I'm very thankful to ARCS and for your help through this process. I now have enough published materials to graduate (with much less stress :) ) this fall." Thanks again, Tyler Sypherd
