The ARCS Phoenix October 3, 2016 General Board Meeting featured reknowned spinal neurosurgeon, Dr. Volker Sonntag. Dr. Sonntag focused on the work of spinal neurosurgeons. He presented information about neurosurgical training and what a residency entails. He described the multiple specialty areas that neurosurgeons practice (vascular, trauma, functional, spine, oncology, pediatrics, and endovascular). He also showed a power point display of live surgery and images of spinal stenosis, scoliosis, tumors and degenerative spine disease. He explained how each spinal disorder is diagnosed and discussed the appropriate treatement of each. The presentation was followed by lively Q and A. .
